Introduction:
Analogy and classification questions are frequently asked in SSC exams. They test your ability to identify relationships and groupings among words, numbers, or objects.


1. Analogy

  • Definition: Identifying a relationship between two terms and applying it to another pair.

  • Common Types:

    1. Word Analogy: Teacher : School :: Doctor : ? → Hospital

    2. Number Analogy: 2 : 4 :: 3 : ? → 9 (depends on pattern, e.g., square)

    3. Alphabet Analogy: A : D :: B : ? → E (Shift +3)

  • SSC Tips:

    • Look for mathematical, positional, or functional relationships.

    • Check both letters and numbers patterns carefully.


2. Classification

  • Definition: Identifying the odd one out from a given set.

  • Examples:

    1. Apple, Banana, Carrot, Mango → Carrot (vegetable, others are fruits)
