Lesson 2.3: Blood Relations

Introduction:
Blood relation questions are common in SSC exams. These test your ability to understand family relationships and deduce connections logically.


1. Common Relationships

  • Father, Mother, Brother, Sister – immediate family

  • Grandfather, Grandmother – one generation above

  • Uncle, Aunt – father’s/mother’s siblings

  • Nephew, Niece – child of sibling

  • Cousins – children of uncle/aunt


2. Symbols Used in SSC Exams

  • Father of X = X’s father

  • Mother of X = X’s mother

  • Son/Daughter of X = X’s children

  • Husband/Wife of X = X’s spouse


3. Tips for Solving

  1. Read the question carefully.

4. Example

Question: Pointing to a man, A says, “He is the son of my grandfather’s only son.” How is the man related to A?
Solution:

  • Grandfather’s only son = A’s father

  • Son of father = A himself → Answer: Brother or Self
