Lesson 8.4: GTO Tasks (Group Discussion, Lecturette, Outdoor Tasks)
Group Testing Officer (GTO) Tasks are a vital part of the SSB Interview, designed to evaluate leadership, teamwork, communication, and officer-like qualities (OLQs) in aspirants.
1. Group Discussion (GD)

Purpose: Assess communication, teamwork, and leadership

Procedure:

Candidates discuss a given topic in a group

Observe initiative, persuasion, cooperation, and clarity of thoughts

Evaluation: Leadership potential, group dynamics, problem-solving
2. Lecturette

Purpose: Evaluate public speaking, knowledge, and clarity of expression

Procedure:

Candidate is given a topic for 1–2 minutes preparation

Deliver a 2–3 minutes speech in front of the group

Evaluation: Confidence, logical flow, presentation skills
3. Outdoor Tasks (Physical & Team Tasks)

Purpose: Assess physical endurance, leadership, teamwork, and decision-making under stress
