Lesson 8.3: Psychological Tests (TAT, WAT, SRT, SDT)
Psychological Tests are a critical part of the SSB Interview, designed to evaluate a candidate’s personality, thinking pattern, emotional stability, and officer-like qualities (OLQs).
1. Thematic Apperception Test (TAT)

Purpose: Assess imagination, perception, and personality traits

Procedure: Candidate is shown a picture and writes a story with:

2. Word Association Test (WAT)

Purpose: Evaluate spontaneous thinking and reaction

Procedure: Candidate is given a series of words and must write first thought or sentence within 15–30 seconds

3. Situation Reaction Test (SRT)

Purpose: Assess practical judgment and problem-solving skills

Procedure: Candidate is presented with everyday situations and writes how they would react

4. Self Description Test (SDT)

Purpose: Understand self-awareness, confidence, and personal strengths/weaknesses
