Lesson 8.2: Screening Test (OIR & PPDT)
Screening Test is the first stage of the SSB Interview, designed to shortlist candidates for further assessment. It consists of Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) Test and Picture Perception & Discussion Test (PPDT).
1. Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) Test

Purpose: Evaluate logical reasoning, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills

2. Picture Perception & Discussion Test (PPDT)

Purpose: Assess imagination, observation, communication, and leadership skills

Procedure:

Candidate is shown a picture for 30 seconds

Writes a story in 4–5 minutes based on the picture

Participates in a group discussion of all candidates’ stories

3. Tips for PPDT

Observe details carefully in the picture

Write a structured story with beginning, conflict, and resolution
