Lesson 1.3: Eligibility, Validity & Career Opportunities

Eligibility Criteria

1. For Primary Level (Class 1–5):

  • Senior Secondary (with 50% marks) + 2-year D.El.Ed

  • OR Graduation + 2-year D.El.Ed / B.Ed

2. For Upper Primary Level (Class 6–8):

  • Graduation (with 50% marks) + B.Ed

  • OR Senior Secondary (with 50% marks) + 4-year B.El.Ed

Note: Some states may have slightly different rules; always check the State TET official website.


Validity of Certificate

  • CTET Certificate: Lifetime

  • State TET Certificate: Usually 7 years or lifetime depending on the state


Career Opportunities

  1. Teaching in Central Government Schools

    • Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs)

    • Navodaya Vidyalayas (NVs)

    • Union Territory schools

  2. Teaching in State Government Schools (after passing State TET)

  3. Opportunities in private schools that prefer TET-qualified teachers

  4. Other roles in educational organizations and teaching institutes
