Lesson 3.4: Working with Tables, Images, and Shapes
This lesson will teach you how to insert and format tables, pictures, and shapes in Word documents to enhance visual presentation and data organization.
🔸 Inserting a Table:

Go to Insert > Table

Choose number of rows and columns (e.g., 3×4)

Fill in the cells with data (text, numbers, etc.)
Table Tools Appear:

Design Tab: Apply styles, shading, and borders
-
Layout Tab: Add/delete rows/columns, merge cells, align text
📝 Use tables to create schedules, price lists, attendance sheets, etc.
🔹 Inserting and Formatting Images:

Go to Insert > Pictures
-
Choose an image from your computer

Resize or move it by dragging corners

Use Picture Format Tab:

Crop: Trim image edges
-
Wrap Text: Set image placement (e.g., In Line, Square, Behind Text)

📌 Tip: Use ‘Compress Picture’ to reduce file size.
🔸 Inserting Shapes and SmartArt:

Go to Insert > Shapes
-
Choose from lines, arrows, circles, rectangles, etc.

Drag on the page to draw the shape

Use Shape Format Tab to:

Change fill color, outline, effects
-
Add text inside shape
-
SmartArt:
Use for diagrams like processes, cycles, hierarchies (Insert > SmartArt)
