Lesson 3.2: Typing and Formatting Text in MS Word
In this lesson, you’ll learn how to type, select, and format text to make your documents clean, professional, and readable.
🔹 Typing Text:
Just click in the document area and start typing using your keyboard. You can type letters, numbers, symbols, and special characters.
🔸 Selecting Text:
To apply formatting, you must first select the text:

Click and drag your mouse over the text

Or double-click a word to select it
-
Triple-click to select a whole paragraph
🔹 Text Formatting Options (Home Tab):
| Option | Function |
|---|---|
| Bold (B) | Makes text thicker (Shortcut: Ctrl + B) |
| Italic (I) | Slants text (Shortcut: Ctrl + I) |
| Underline (U) | Underlines text (Shortcut: Ctrl + U) |
| Font Type | Choose different styles like Arial, Calibri |
| Font Size | Make text bigger or smaller |
| Font Color | Change text color |
| Highlight | Highlight text with a color |
| Text Alignment | Align text: Left, Center, Right, Justify |
🔸 Copy, Cut, and Paste:

Copy (Ctrl + C): Duplicate selected text

Cut (Ctrl + X): Remove and move selected text

Paste (Ctrl + V): Insert copied/cut text
🔸 Undo and Redo:

Undo (Ctrl + Z): Cancel the last action

Redo (Ctrl + Y): Repeat the last undone action
