Lesson 4.2: Editing and Formatting Cells
Editing and formatting help make spreadsheet data clear, accurate, and visually organized. You can change how data looks in a cell without changing the actual value.
✏️ 1. Editing Cells

To Edit Content:

Double-click the cell or press F2

Make changes, then press Enter

To Delete Content:

Select the cell → press Delete key

Copy/Paste Data:

Use Ctrl + C (copy), Ctrl + V (paste), Ctrl + X (cut)

🎨 2. Formatting Cells
Formatting makes data easier to read and understand.
Common formatting options:

Font Style and Size: Bold, Italic, Underline, etc.

Text Alignment: Left, Center, Right, Top, Bottom, Middle

Text Color and Fill Color: Highlight cells with colors

Borders: Add cell or table borders
🔢 3. Number Formatting
You can format the type of data in a cell:

General – default format
-
Number – shows numeric values with/without decimal

Currency – adds ₹, $, etc.

Percentage – displays value as %
-
Date/Time – format numbers as calendar or clock values
🛠️ How to Format:
Select cell(s) → Right-click → Format Cells
or use toolbar formatting buttons
Proper editing and formatting make spreadsheets clean, understandable, and ready for reporting or printing.
