Lesson 2.5: File and Folder Management
A file is a collection of data or information stored in a computer, like a document, image, audio, or video. A folder is used to organize and store multiple files.
Proper file and folder management helps you find, save, and organize your work easily.
📂 1. Creating a Folder
To keep files organized, you can create folders for different purposes (e.g., Work, Photos, Music).
🛠️ Steps to create a folder:

Right-click on the desktop or inside a drive

Click New → Folder

Type a name for the folder and press Enter
📄 2. Creating and Saving Files
Files are created using different applications:

MS Word creates .docx files

Paint saves .png/.jpg image files

Notepad creates .txt files
🛠️ To save a file:

Click File → Save or Save As

Choose location and file name

Click Save
🛠️ 3. Renaming, Copying, Moving Files and Folders

Rename: Right-click on file/folder → Rename → Type new name

Copy: Right-click → Copy → Paste in new location

Move (Cut): Right-click → Cut → Paste in new location

Drag and Drop: Use mouse to move files between folders
🗑️ 4. Deleting Files and Folders

Right-click → Delete

Deleted files go to the Recycle Bin (can be restored)

To delete permanently, empty the Recycle Bin

Tips for good file management:

Use meaningful folder names (e.g., “Class Notes”, “Photos 2023”)
