Lesson 1.2: Evolution of Computers and IT Gadgets
Computers have evolved greatly over the past several decades. Earlier computers were large, slow, and expensive. Today’s computers are fast, small, affordable, and more powerful.
📌 Evolution of Computers:
-
First Generation (1940s–1950s):
Used vacuum tubes, very large in size, produced heat, and were slow. -
Second Generation (1950s–1960s):
Used transistors, smaller and faster than vacuum tubes. -
Third Generation (1960s–1970s):
Used integrated circuits (ICs), increased processing power. -
Fourth Generation (1970s–Present):
Use microprocessors, personal computers became common. -
Fifth Generation (Present & Future):
Based on Artificial Intelligence (AI), robotics, and quantum computing.
