Lesson 1.5: Tips for Online Exam Environment

Objective: Learn how to effectively handle the online exam interface and environment to maximize performance.

1. Familiarize with Online Test Interface

  • Understand how to navigate between questions using the provided buttons.

  • Learn to mark questions for review if unsure.

  • Check timer and section indicators frequently to manage time.

2. Keyboard and Mouse Shortcuts

  • Use keyboard shortcuts if the exam platform allows (like next question, previous question, mark for review).

  • Ensure your mouse and keyboard are responsive during practice.

3. Time Management in Online Exams

  • Prelims: 60 minutes for 100 questions → ~36 seconds per question.

  • Mains: Allocate fixed time per section to avoid last-minute rush.

  • Use the “skip & return later” technique for difficult questions.

4. Staying Calm and Focused

  • Do not panic if a question seems difficult. Move on and return later.

  • Keep a rough sheet ready for calculations or notes.

  • Practice mock online tests to build confidence and reduce exam stress.

5. Technical Preparations

  • Ensure a stable internet connection and a charged laptop/desktop.
